How To Enjoy Studying

You are probably thinking “What? To enjoy studying? She’s crazy!”. The truth is that studying can be tedious and exhausting, especially if you are studying something that you are not interested in. The key for enjoyable study sessions is getting in the right mindset. If you think of all of the advantages that studying has and the opportunities that it brings, it becomes easier to study. We can all agree that hard work pays off. And if you are doing it with hate, then you’ll spend a significant amount of your young age unhappy. I know that I don’t want that for myself. So here are the main tips for actually starting to love studying.

1.Set the mood

Every time you have to study, treat yourself. Make studying fun by lighting your favorite candle and making yourself an amazing cup of coffee. Turn on your favorite music, pick your favorite stationery.

I am such a geek when it comes to things like this. I am obsessed with fall scented candles, vanilla lattes, indie music, and beautiful notebooks. And it really helps to enjoy studying more.

2. Think about your why

I said something about that in my previous blog post. Your Why? is your biggest motivation. When you think about the life you want to live and the things you want to have, it’s easier to get yourself to study. You know that if you want something in life, you have to work for it. For being a doctor or an entrepreneur, you have to start working hard.

Your future depends on your behavior today.

Now is the perfect time to decide what you want and how you are going to get it. Next time when you’ll have to study remember why you are doing this. And how incredibly happy and proud you are going to be if you achieve your goals.

3. The filing of success

There is nothing better than finally achieving your goals. And the harder you work for it, the better you’ll feel when you get it. You know how miserable you feel when you realize that you could get a much better grade but you were too lazy. And now you have to study for it again or try much harder and stress about your future grades to make it better. You don’t have to do that to yourself. Your school success is mostly under your control. Feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction with your results is much better than the feeling of sleeping in and watching Netflix for three days. That is what motivates you and inspires you to keep going.

4. Knowledge is the power

You can know your reasons for studying, and you can love the feeling of success, but if you don’t enjoy the process you won’t be happy. Results are what should motivate you, but knowledge is something that should make the process enjoyable.

I was obsessed with gaining knowledge since I was a little kid. I was always fascinated with its power. And how it can serve you really well through life. Even though you think that a lot of things that you are studying are irrelevant, many of them aren’t. They won’t help you if you think about them as individual facts. But if you look at your knowledge as a whole and start connecting the dots, that is the place where the magic begins. You can understand and predict things cause you to know the historical, geographical and scientific context; they are in.

Suddenly studying and taking tests becomes a challenge. Challenge for your brain to think as good as it can.

From the primary school, I hated math. Going to high school just made it worst. I was terrible at it, and I thought I could never understand it. Last year I took math as a personal challenge of how well my brain can think. I started adopting math in my everyday life and calculating things in my head instead of on calculator. On end, I fell in love with this challenge, and I had an A.

You can adapt this on every subject or even a skill you are trying to learn. The goal is to make progress, not to be perfect. Everything takes time and practice. Keep going and don’t give up.
