How to Have the Best School Year Ever

Autumn is around the corner and with that start of a new school year as well. Some of you have already come back to school and I hope you are all having an amazing start. Although I’ll start in a few weeks, I’m already in such a Harry Potter mood and I love it!
Is there any better time to study than when it’s a rainy day, you are under a cozy blanket and everything smells like cookies?
It’s a new start, a new opportunity to have the best school year of your life. By this, I don’t only mean in a sense of great academic achievements but in a sense of feeling happy in general. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, have amazing experiences and pick a new hobby.

This is what I wanna talk about today. Not how to have all A’s but how to live this year to the fullest!

1) Take time to find an inner feeling of content

Whow, I thought we are going to talk about the school here!?
Recently, I’ve been talking a lot on Instagram about this realization I had and how it changed my life. Btw if you are not following me on Instagram, you definitely should 🙂

Without an anchor in yourself, everything else you do will take so much more time and energy. The thing is life doesn’t have to be hard, the school doesn’t have to be hard. We are the ones who make it seem like everything is hard. You can feel amazing! All you need to do is let go of negative emotions. I’m not an expert but I know that nothing ever affected me the way letting go is. In short, all you need to do is to become aware of the negative emotions, stop judging the fact that you have them and then let them go. The way you can let them go is to let go of the satisfaction ego gets while experiencing them. For example, you may feel that math is hard and so you are frustrated, sad, etc. The reason you are holding on to it is that it makes you feel like a victim, other people are feeling sorry for you and so on. Which is totally normal! However, it’s on you to decide whether that satisfaction is greater than feeling happy. When you let go of those emotions, although they’ll still appear, you’ll find an inner feeling of peace and content. Therefore, anything else you do will come easily. From studying and achieving great results to making new friends.
I deeply recommend that you research more on your own and give it a go since you never know how much good it can bring.

2) Look your best

Here is another one about you haha. You may wonder how the hack the way you look can affect your results, but it can! I don’t mean that you need to put a full face of makeup every morning or wear the best clothes you own. What I mean is that you should take time to feel good from the outside as well. You don’t need makeup or fancy clothes for this. All you need is to take care of your diet, exercise, skin, hair, nails and so on. Don’t just go days without washing your hair, having chopped nails and eating fast food. Of course, we all do it sometimes. However, if that has become your habit, change it. Not only that it shows your inner state to others but it enhances that negative mindset in your mind. You know how much better you feel when you are put together. What is stopping you to look and feel that way every day?

3) Develop a passion for what you are studying

I know that maybe you are not a huge fan of what you are studying. Some of you are in high school where you need to study different fields that are not all your cup of tea. Even then what you are studying is precious. Knowledge from different fields will give you the ability to understand complex concepts later on. Concepts that you are actually interested in. Everything is intertwined. Even if you are not interested in school at all and would just, for example, want to look lean and have muscles. Even then you’ll be able to perform much better if you understand the science behind working out and eating healthy. Al least that is the way I implement new habits into my life by understanding the core principle of it. Maybe in high school mitochondria was just another boring part you needed to remember to pass the cell exam. However, when you would look at it deeper, you would understand that efficiency of your workouts, whether you are sleepy all the time and how old you are all have something in common. Mitochondria! But seriously, everything is connected and those boring basic information are your base for future knowledge.

On the other hand, if you are a college student and you don’t like what you are studying. You should either think about changing the field or you should find the passion in it. Either way, wasting your time and money on something you are not interested in and then working on it for the rest of your life is not a good option! There must be a part of it that you are eager to learn, a part that sparks something in you. It will give you purpose and interest to learn other subjects and phenomena to have a better understanding of the part you like.

4) Be consistent

This is a no brainer. However, the majority of people aren’t consistent. We all tend to leave all obligations until the last day or last minute. From washing the dishes to studying for an exam. And then we are stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Why do we do that to ourselves?

I have quite a big problem when it comes to consistency. Not as much in studying, although I push that as much as I can as well. But mostly in everyday obligations. I could sit and stare at the wall for hours before getting up and doing what I intended to do. What I’ve started doing is counting till 5 and then getting up and doing it. And it feels amazing!
Another way of overcoming it is planning. I make sure to plan out my study sessions at least in a sense of time and subject I’ll work on. Right now, the ability to stay consistent has been crucial! With social media, upcoming projects, work and soon college every minute is precious.
If you are struggling with pushing everything till last minute, just simply stop it! Look at it as a competition with yourself and start doing everything immediately.

5) Reach out

This is a fresh new opportunity to make new friends, meet new people and expand your horizons. But guess what, none of that will happen if you will keep standing in the corner wishing nobody sees you. I know that reaching out to new people or even the ones you know, but have never hanged out with, can be scary. However, it doesn’t mean that fear should stop you. I’ve been behaving that way for years. Fearing what other people would think, would they consider me boring, a luser, etc. I realized that I have nothing from holding on to that mindset. What other people think of me is not my concern. All I can do is be myself and be kind. It is on others to show their behavior than. Don’t be afraid to show what you really like and to be authentic. Yes, of course, there will be people who won’t like it, but there will be a majority of people who’ll appreciate you reaching out and being yourself. When I changed my thinking a few years ago, I honestly stopped caring what others will think and stopped wishing they like me, they suddenly started liking me. It is contradictory, but it is the way it works.

I didn’t only mean that you should reach out to your classmates. If you have a question from a lesson or one that is connected to the subject, ask your teachers. Don’t be afraid to ask what you don’t understand cause they are there to teach you.

6) Plan your best year ever

This is the last, but very important tip. Plan the life you want to have this year. Do you want to hang out with friends, go to the cinema, spa or on hikes? Then plan it out. Call your friends, set dates and make it happen. Do you want to be in the best shape ever? Then find a workout plan, a gym or sport you like and stick to it. Do you want to start a blog, volunteering or write a book? Make a plan and don’t wait any longer.

The worst thing you can do is to allow your life to slip through your fingers!

Don’t wait until others call you or until you have enough time or motivation or anything. Do it now! You never know how much time you have left and you don’t want to wait until it’s too late.

This year is completely in your hands. All you need to do is start with planning and taking action. And don’t wait for Monday, make a change and start now! I encourage you to do the thing you wanted to get done as soon as you exit this post. Whether it is to call a friend, talk to your parents, research writing a book or study the lesson.

Talk to you soon 🙂
